Unlike the meteorological definition (March 1), the astronomical equinox is the precise, scientifically defined first moment of spring, when the Sun crosses the celestial equator heading northward.
Our countdown calculates the difference between the current moment (in real time) and the upcoming vernal equinox date and time in UTC, then converts it to days, hours, minutes, and seconds. When one spring passes, the countdown automatically resets to the following year's equinox.
